Impromptu spring puller.

Don’t have a spring puller? I used the rat tail of a file and a wrench on the thin end. Worked in a pinch.

Seat touches battery

The seat rests on the battery and not the subframe so there’s a chance of the battery case getting split. I used an old “knee puck” from a pair of dirtbike pants as a shim. It was just thick enough that I had to put a lot of force on the seat to latch it, so I shaved some off the top.

The puck was taped down, but after the first ride it had shifted off the subframe. This time I safety wired it. It hasn’t been tested in this configuration yet so I don’t know if that will make it stay either.

Fuel tank mishap.

I was putting on the power kit and had the tank partially propped up on a 2×4. When I was wrestling with the stock pipe trying to get it off, the tank launched off the bike. The elbow connector broke; I just sent GP Motorcycles an email asking me to order a new one. I hope it doesn’t a) take a year for the part to get in, or b) cost a fortune for a little plastic part.

Not sure if the part on the plate simply screws off…I haven’t tried yet because I didn’t want to break it even more.

Wires that lead from the tank also pulled out. I have no idea which wire goes in which hole since the colors on each end are not identical.

Overflow reservoir.

It was leaking after the first ride so I put a hose clamp on it. I actually tried safety wire on it first, but the hose is pretty soft and it was cutting in fairly deep so I switched to a hose clamp.

Should I be concerned that this is loose? Should I zip tie it to something?
